So Eliza and Huck have both been talking about what they are going to be for Halloween this year. More Eliza than Huck but, I decided that I needed a break from hearing about when I was going to make her Word Girl costume and Huckleberry’s Captain Huggy Face costume.
After some help with Ira on drawing the Word Girl symbol and me finding the perfect lighting bolt I put the craft robo to work. I bought some material called Siser at Regional Supply and here is what I came up with. They can now be Word Girl and Captain Huggy Face anytime the shirts are clean. They have already been washed twice.
The front of the shirts

The back of the shirts.

Word up it’s Word Girl.

and her sidekick monkey Captain Huggy Face, almost renamed as Captain Hucky Face

I feel that I owe a friend of mine an apology about how silly I thought she was for liking Word Girl. So to Lori I say I am sorry and your are right there is nothing quite like a good episode of Word Girl, especially with Lady Redundant Woman. We love Word Girl. For those of you that have no idea what I am talking about you can find Word Girl on PBS. -

During the spring I signed the kiddos up for TaeKwonDo taught by Mr. Jeff. Eliza was so excited because Mr. Jeff used to teach every Monday instead of Mr. D. She likes Mr. D but, I think that she really liked Mr. Jeff and was sad when he could not teach every week anymore. The kids had a lot of fun and I think did rather well considering it was there first time and class was only 30 minutes.
I would pick them up get them changed into their gis. I was lucky enough to be able to sit through the classes and watch them progress. On June 2nd they held a demonstration for parents and grandparents. Here are a few pictures of the demonstration.

They were sure excited to get their metals. They wore them for about 2 days.

Memorial Day 2010
Filed under: Family; No CommentsWe had a great memorial day weekend this year. We went to the movie SHREK 4 on Saturday afternoon. It was pretty good, the story is really great. Sunday was church and then an afternoon of making cookies. Monday we had a BBQ at Grandma Lou’s house. She has had a stroke and is trying really hard to talk to you but, most of the time you just have to give the answer you think best fits the situation.
We had a great time with friends and family.
Macy Sue with her big blue eyes.
Huckleberry helping pick out a spot for the sunflowers to grow.
Eliza walking on the cans.
There is nothing quite like enjoying a BBQ with friends and family. -

Other Projects
Filed under: Family;2 CommentsHere is one project that I wanted to do ever since we moved in. The craft robo made it simple.

Before - Huck was helping.

After for the hooks.

After for the shoe bins!
I love it and I am so glad that I put it off this long so that I could use vinyl lettering instead of painting it on with stencils. Here is another thing that I have wanted to do for a while. I was talking with someone about wanting to make curtains for Eliza’s room. I went to the fabric store to see if they had any material that would work. No real intention of purchasing but I found the perfect material. It took me a couple of months to finally make the curtains because my sewing machine was in the shop for about 3 weeks.
Here are the before and after of her window. I love the material and I love the curtain rod Ira found.
I did not even use a pattern. I am sou proud.

Before

After

For those of you who have not seen Eliza’s Room here is a picture from the builders website. (our house was a model house.)
I am looking forward to many more projects. I am excited about our garden boxes but I will share those another day. -

Looking for the keys? Did you check the trunk?
Filed under: Family;1 CommentSo this morning I was already to go to work on time. So then I relized that I had no idea where my car keys were. Usually I find them hanging on the hook ot in the bottom of my purse or in the pocket of the pants I last wore. So when Ira and I had looked in all these places and more asking the kids everytime one of us went past one of them “Do you know where mommies keys are” I had given up. So finally I just said okay guys do either of you know where my keys are? All of a sudden Huck pipes in and says In the trunk I wanted them to be safe. So I go out and check the trunk and sure enough there are the keys safe and sound. So next time you are running around thinking you have gone mad, befoe you tear the cushions off each and every ch
air and/or couch just check the trunk because it is a pretty safe place for those pesky car keys.

Crash’em Up Weekend
Filed under: Family;2 CommentsWe had a mostly great weekend at our house. It started with Ken and Ginger coming over for a little BBQ and Hula Hoop making on Friday night. I am so glad that they came. It was really great to get to know each of them a little better and have some adult conversation. Ginger was a great sport and came to the park with the kiddos and me. They were there to help us start Ira’s birthday celebration!
Saturday Eliza and I got to go to Kade’s, a friend from school, birthday party at Classic Fun Center. We had a lot of fun climbing through the jungle and playing on the bounce houses. We left dad and Huck at home. I feel a little bad but, Huck and dad got to build shelves in the garage and do some man stuff together. After the party I took Eliza to get a pedicure. It was her fist one and it was really funny to watch her face when they scrubbed her feet. She just covered her face with her hands. I was laughing and so was the lady next to me. We then went home and got ready for the Crash’em up Derby. I was so excited that it was postponed and that it was on Ira’s birthday. We had a great time. The green car put on a great show at the end. Eliza did not like it when the cars started to smoke - she wanted to go home. It was great fun and I think that I would attend another Crash’em Up Derby if given the opportunity.
Sunday Huck was playing on the wall at church and fell off. I took him to the hospital and he was a great trooper. I was glad that he was not the screaming child. Somebody else brought in their daughter who was screaming and crying like nobody’s business and all of a sudden I hear Huck say “Be Quiet”. I asked him who is was talking to and he told me the girl. I told him that was not nice and that she was hurt. He kept telling her to be quiet but it was a lot softer. It made me laugh. All the nurses and doctors thought that he was to happy to be there. He did great with the x-rays and let them pose him. The X-Rays came back and he managed to fracture his collarbone. He is now in a sling and a wrap to keep the weight off of his collarbone. He is doing very well with it. He seems to know that it makes him feel better so when I take it off he just talks about getting it back on.
All in all we had a pretty good weekend.

Dad Blogs?
Filed under: Family; No CommentsSo sometimes I find it fun to look at others links on their blogs. Low and behold I come across Mom and Dad on McKenzie’s page? What did Mom take up blogging in retirment? Nope it is Dad’s and he has been blogging since before Easter. Who knew. For all those cousins and Aunts that are reading this you should check it out. It is true. I believe it was Amy that was asking about Brent on Facebook. Maybe that could happen also. Well Dad welcome to the wonderful world of blogging and let me know when I can show you how to post some pictures. I did read all those posts.

So it has been 3 weeks since I started working and I feel that I am getting the hang of it again. It has been a great experience for all of us. The kiddos are loving school.
I just wanted to share a couple of stories that have happened since I started back to work and the kiddos in school. We had back to school night, yes back to school for a 21month and 3 year old. It was great. We got to see the things that are kids do all day and meet with their teachers. Ms. Dione is fantastic, she is Eliza’s teacher, in her class the kids range from 3-5 years old. Eliza has come home with some of this great information:
Ostriches live in Africa, have 2 toes and something about the daddies having black feathers and mommies having brown feathers. (I learned that an ostrich can lay up to 16 eggs at a time.)
Nigeria is in Africa and she made the Nigeria flag.
She sings the animal alphabet song over and over, a-a-alligator, b-b-bumblebee, c-c-catipillar, etc. It is really cute.
Just the other night she broke out in a song that names the months of the year sung to the tune of 10 little monsters. I was in shock. Her little mind is such a sponge and I am glad that she is getting this opportunity to learn such great things.
She is also learning that there are bad choices at home and at school. She told on herself last night. It was kinda cute.
Ms. Sam is Huckleberry’s teacher and is equally awesome. Huck is talking so much more now and tries to copy Eliza with every word she says. They are learning to associate letters with sounds. They sing the abc’s with the sounds the letter makes instead of naming the letter. I wish I could portray this in typing, but I just cannot. He is a BIG ladies man. All the teachers know him and say good morining Huck to him and he just gives them his cute smile and big blue eyes in such a way that it says, you know you love me.
I cannot thank everyone enough who has been so supportive of this decision that Ira and I made. I am truly enjoying being back at work for the most part. I just want to fix everything right now and I have to remind myself that I have to take this one day at a time.
I will really try to post some pictures later.

Aug191 CommentAs I was taking pictures off of the camera the other day I came across this piture.
Then I remembered that I have one that looks pretty similar.
These kids are not brother and sister by any chance are they?
I know that I have one just like Huck’s of Eliza I just could not find it so I went with the next best one.
