So a couple of days before Halloween I took the kiddos to the craft store.  We needed to kill some time before heading out for a birthday party.  We had spent a good hour in the store getting finishing touches to the costumes and such.  We were in the check out line and Eliza decides to hollar “Mom I’m having a heart attack”.  I start laughing and the lady in front of me in line starts chuckling and then turns around just to make sure everything is alright.  I know that it made my day I sure do hope that the other people who heard got a good chuckle also.

I have been crowned the meanest/worstest mom in the world.  That is right ladies I am Queen of the meanest mom for now.  Someone can take it away if they wish but, just know that for the next couple of months (maybe longer) I am crowned with this wonderful title about once a day.  Huck took the opportunity to crown me this in the parking lot of the school the other day in front of witnessess.  Now so that you don’t fell too bad about my sweet baby boy calling me the worstest mom ever, later that day when I picked him up he let me know that I was the nicest mom ever.  Being crowned the nicest mom ever makes it bearable to wear the crown of the meanest mom.

Reason number one for not having road rage:  I was cut off my some dumb a** the other day and took it upon my self to let everyone in the car know including my kids.  That is right everyone I will admit it only because you need to know that the next thing that I heard from the back seat was Huck saying dumb ash over and over and over again.  If he says it feel free to let him know that it is not right and that his mom has a potty mouth.  I really need to get over yelling at people in the car.

Just a cool little note about this morning.  In our house we have some big windows that face north.  As I was preparing food for today a big flock of birds were doing there bird things and flying all over the place.  They flew right up to our house and the windows.  I think that they landed on the roof for about 10 seconds and then they all flew off at the same time.  There were like a hundred birds.  It was like the movie birds but instead of being locked in a phone booth I was safe inside my house.

May this day be always remembered.  This was the first year that I cooked Thanksgiving dinner.  It was so much fun to plan and cook.  I was very overwhelmed at first but got it taken care of.  On the menu was Turkey (of course), cranberry sauce, garlic mashed potatoes, country style green beans, corn, sweet potatoes, stuffing, black and green olives,  jello salad and rolls.  Ben brought some parsnips to cook up and they were delish!  We had Ben, McKenzine, Jake, Katie, Kennedy, Macy and us.  We missed Mom, Dad, Kari and Rainier but we heard that Thanksgiving in Las Vegas is just as good as Thanksgiving in Salt Lake.  I was pleasantly surprised at how well everything turned out.  I hope everyone found something that they liked.  I assigned the dessert out because although I love baking more than cooking I could not bear baking and cooking on the same day.  Ben and McKenzie brought a very tasty peach pie with Huck’s favorite vanilla icecream and Katie brought a wonderful pumpkin bread pudding with a molassas cream topping.  Thanks for the desserts guys they were wonderful!  This year I am thankful for family and the great support that they bring in every situation.  It was great to test my limits and to be able to push myself to do something new.  I thank my mom for all the years that she has made essentially two thanksgiving dinners.  We usually have a practice run for dads birthday in early November.  I love my family and wish them all a very Happy Thanksgiving!  I also am thankful for a brother and husband that did the dishes after dinner :)

We had a totally awesome Labor Day Weekend. Here is our list (in no particular order):

    1. We had a dinner with the Nelson family that was uber yummy!
    2. Beth and the Kids did a bunch of gardening.
    3. Eliza cooked not one but two dinners (her first ever) and they were both great!  She cooked sloppy joes on Friday and macaroni and tomatoes tonight.
    4. I managed to finish the air engine for my grinder street organ.
    5. We had some neighbors stop by and ask for a tour of our basement so they could visualize how theirs would turn out.  A nice side effect of this was that we were motivated to finish our unpacking.  We have emptied and put away the stuff in all of the moving boxes.  We still have a few things in boxes, but they have been looked at and deemed box worthy!  So we are officially 100% moved in!  WOOT!

Here is a quick video of Eliza eating at the salad bar. Even though you would guess that it was a lime, it was really a tomato, and they were pretty sweet at that!

We had a mostly great weekend at our house. It started with Ken and Ginger coming over for a little BBQ and Hula Hoop making on Friday night. I am so glad that they came. It was really great to get to know each of them a little better and have some adult conversation. Ginger was a great sport and came to the park with the kiddos and me. They were there to help us start Ira’s birthday celebration! :)

Saturday Eliza and I got to go to Kade’s, a friend from school, birthday party at Classic Fun Center. We had a lot of fun climbing through the jungle and playing on the bounce houses. We left dad and Huck at home. I feel a little bad but, Huck and dad got to build shelves in the garage and do some man stuff together. After the party I took Eliza to get a pedicure. It was her fist one and it was really funny to watch her face when they scrubbed her feet. She just covered her face with her hands. I was laughing and so was the lady next to me. We then went home and got ready for the Crash’em up Derby. I was so excited that it was postponed and that it was on Ira’s birthday. We had a great time. The green car put on a great show at the end. Eliza did not like it when the cars started to smoke - she wanted to go home. It was great fun and I think that I would attend another Crash’em Up Derby if given the opportunity.

Sunday Huck was playing on the wall at church and fell off. I took him to the hospital and he was a great trooper.   I was glad that he was not the screaming child. Somebody else brought in their daughter who was screaming and crying like nobody’s business and all of a sudden I hear Huck say “Be Quiet”. I asked him who is was talking to and he told me the girl. I told him that was not nice and that she was hurt. He kept telling her to be quiet but it was a lot softer. It made me laugh. All the nurses and doctors thought that he was to happy to be there. He did great with the x-rays and let them pose him.  The X-Rays came back and he managed to fracture his collarbone. He is now in a sling and a wrap to keep the weight off of his collarbone. He is doing very well with it. He seems to know that it makes him feel better so when I take it off he just talks about getting it back on.

All in all we had a pretty good weekend.

    Dad Blogs?

    Filed under: Family;

So sometimes I find it fun to look at others links on their blogs.  Low and behold I come across Mom and Dad on McKenzie’s page?  What did Mom take up blogging in retirment?  Nope it is Dad’s and he has been blogging since before Easter.  Who knew.  For all those cousins and Aunts that are reading this you should check it out.  It is true.  I believe it was Amy that was asking about Brent on Facebook.  Maybe that could happen also.  Well Dad welcome to the wonderful world of blogging and let me know when I can show you how to post some pictures.  I did read all those posts.

That seems to be what Ira and I have done for the past month and a half.

Hurry and get the house on the market and wait for a buyer.

Hurry up and sign the offer and wait to hear back.

Hurry up and find somewhere to live because your are going to be homeless in about a month.

Hurry up and get your offer in and wait for the bank to say yes or no.

Hurry up and get the house inspector out because the bank won’t wait.

Hurry up and clean your house Saturday morning and wait for the buyers to leave before returning home.  (They wanted to see the house a second time.)

Hurry up and wait to make sure the buyers will actually be able to fund.

Hurry up and wait……  I hate waiting.

Well since I read many blogs I feel that it is time to update the electronic world with what has been going on in our household.

In February I was convinced by Ira and Ms. Caroline (one of Huck’s teachers) to take advantage of the “potty party” at school.  I am glad to say that Huck is doing great with using the potty.  He has been a lot easier to convince that the potty is a great thing than Eliza ever was.  That is right my fellow bloggers Huck is potty trained and he is only 2 years and 4 months.  The training did start at 2 years and 2 months.  Wow!  Thanks to the convincing parties! :)  We also celebrated Aunt Kari, Uncle Ben and Grandma Sue’s Birthdays.

In March we decided that it was time to take our kids to Disneyland.  We booked our trip for April when the kids were out of school for spring break.  We started talking about selling our home.  Then on  whim someone at work mentioned the great real estate agents they had to Ira so Ira gave them a call and we put our house up for sale by the end of March.  ( I think).  We had 2 long weeks of painting, cleaning, de-cluttering and finishing touches but it was on the market for the spring excitement.

In April we had quite a few showings and a couple of evenings spent with Grandma Sue and Grandpa Brent because we could not go home.  We took Grandpa to his birthday dinner finally - his birthday was in February.  Finally off to Disneyland with no buyers.  We stopped off in Vegas to visit with Aunt Kari and Uncle Rainier.  The Easter Bunny found us in Vegas and then we were off to Disneyland.  We were enjoying our vacation and Eliza enjoyed the dinner with the princesses.  Oh was it great.  Then the call came from the realator…we had an offer on the house.  Then another call saying we had another offer.  Woot woot woot!  The bad news was we have to be out by May 15th.  Another few days in Disneyland and then back to Vegas and finally home!  Glad for the vacation but happy to sleep in our own beds.

Ira and I went house shopping while Eliza and Huck played with Grandma Sue and Grandpa Brent.  Ira and I found the house after looking at about 7.  We love it and are just waiting to hear back from the bank - it is a short sell.  The wait has been frustrating and long but, hopefully we will hear back today.  Aunt Katie had her baby and I am excited to finally meet Macy in person.  How wonderful the news was yesterday when Uncle Jake called.  Eliza was excited to know that the baby was here.

Hopefully it will not be another 3 months before I post but with a move coming shortly and us not really knowing where we will be it could just be another 3 months.
